Many people focus on calories thinking that they contain the answer, but the truth is that as a trainer of 17 years experience, I have seen too many clients cripple themselves because of a failure to address their own personal and emotional baggage.  

A trainer should know when to recommend, but also know how to listen.  Are you training a person or a machine?  If you are training a person, then know that they have hopes, fears and history - just like any of us.
