About Kathy Ekdahl
Kathy has devoted her entire career – nearing 23 years – to health and fitness. After spending 10 years in the medical field, performing patient care in a clinical setting, she moved into the physical fitness domain and developed her expertise in teaching strength training, hatha yoga, aerobics and step, senior and children’s classes, and sports conditioning.
For 10 years, Kathy owned and operated The Aerobics Stop, a women-only health club in Marlborough, MA. where she developed programs for special needs populations such as seniors, the obese, and women and adolescent girls facing body image and self-esteem issues.
Kathy is a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor with the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Kathy is also a yoga instructor and a certified coach with the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA). She currently coaches varsity field hockey at Hudson High School, Hudson, MA.
A master-class presenter and lecturer to fitness professionals and enthusiasts, Kathy has taught numerous workshops and Fitness Training Certification classes. She is also the author of numerous articles, addressing topics such as “Strength Training for Women,” “The Role of Exercise in Stress Reduction,” and “Fit for Golf.”
Kathy has recently joined The International Golf Club as the staff personal trainer. An avid golfer, Kathy specializes in training golfers for general good health as well as to enhance their golf game and reduce the risk of common golf injuries. Kathy will be further educating herself in golf fitness by becoming a Titliest Certified Golf Fitness Trainer in October of 2007.
Kathy hosts a television show called “Kathy’s Fitness Forum” for Hudson Cable, CTV-8. The show airs Tuesdays @ 6:30 a.m., Fridays @ 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays @ 9:00 a.m.
